ABOUT THOMAS

Welcome into...
Thomas Winding’s World
Through out his life Thomas Winding lived in a world full of art expressing himself in various artistic ways. He was endlessly full of fabulous ideas, colours, drawings and paintings, films, stories and music. He comprehended the relative in the present. This understanding came from a search for truth and what is real in the now and in life.
Frequently this was reflected in surprisingly absurd and poetic juxtapositions and contradictions – though these were filled with humour. His sense of humour was inspired by what is contrived and fake – but he was never sarcastic. His view of children was characterised by a humanistic view of humanity.

Thomas Winding was always busy
….working on the things he loved and which preoccupied him. When working he rarely stayed put; he would move around led by his mood. In the course of a day he would work on writing a book or on a film script, he would do some gardening, play the piano, bass or trumpet, bake bread or work on a painting or illustrations for a book.
Thomas Winding’s creative works would unfold with a drawing or work of art. But as time passed, he realised, that it was not the WORDS he should be seeking to write a story but instead it was the PICTURES that made and became the stories.

When I close my eyes and wait for a while
…… then the images come to me. In the beginning I cannot decipher them, however if I am patient and wait I can see them clearly. I see images of people I know, houses I have been to and countries I have visited. I see images from films and drawings from books I have read. But I also see pictures I have never seen before. Strange houses, animals and plants, Native Americans, pixies and angels. And from time to time, these pictures become stories. They really must be stories, dormant stories, waiting to be told”.
Thomas Winding: “En kasse med billeder”.

Many remember Thomas Winding for his voice
……. but the voice would not have been remembered without the stories he told, and the stories were inspired by his inner visions. This part of his world is what we would like to share with you. When you see and look at his wonderful images, just close your eyes and wait for these images and pictures to become your own story.
